What is an RMT?

A Registered Massage Therapist in BC must successfully complete a 2200-3000 hour  training program including extensive clinical hours.  RMT’s are highly trained in orthopedic testing, postural examination, pathologies, neurology, anatomy and physiology.  Treatments can include a variety of modalities including trigger point release, myofascial release, hydrotherapy, pre and post-event massage, joint mobilizations, manual lymphatic drainage, therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation.

The College of Massage Therapists of BC require all practitioners to complete a board-certified examination in accordance with the Health Professionals Act of BC.  This examination process is done in order to ensure the highest standard of professionalism and skills.  Only at this point may the Massage Practitioner practice in BC.  Continuing education courses are required for a Therapist to maintain their registered status in Massage Therapy.
